Managing a Flowsheet Filter

When you initially access a flowsheet for a patient, the flowsheet (by default) displays all result and medication data that has been collected for that patient over the past year. If you want to customize (limit) the data that appears in the flowsheet, you can create and apply filters. By defining a filter, you can save a reusable set of criteria that you or any other user in your organization can apply to patient flowsheets as needed. In addition, a default filter can be set at an organization or user level so that the same filter is automatically applied when viewing flowsheets. For more information about setting a default organization or user filter, see Set a Default Flowsheet Filter for an Organization and Create a Flowsheet Filter.

When a filter is applied to a flowsheet, the criteria defined in the filter determine the data that appears. If you choose more than one filter criteria, such as two tests, two analytes, a combination of one test and one analyte, or a combination of one medication and two analytes, then the data that appears on the flowsheet reflects any of the results that match the filter criteria. See the following table for examples of how flowsheet filters work (for this example, you can assume that the analytes that are available in more than one panel, such as glucose, sodium, and calcium, use the same analyte codes).

Note: When multiple analytes with the same analyte code are available on a filtered flowsheet, you can display the result data points on one line or on multiple lines on the flowsheet, depending upon whether the Show Results Only check box is selected in the Results Display Types area. For more information, see Create a Flowsheet Filter.

Using Autoprint for Flowsheet Filters

You can indicate if you want a flowsheet to automatically print when a new result is received that contains the tests/analytes specified for a filter. This feature, called Autoprint, enables automatic printing of flowsheets for a filter at the patient-level or organization-level (all patients). By using the Autoprint feature, you can monitor trends among patients for specific analytes. For more information about turning Autoprint on or off for a filter, see Create a Flowsheet Filter.

Notes:

Flowsheets set to autoprint do not print medications, partial results, or analytes with a status of DNR, NMP, or X.

The Autoprint feature utilizes the Care360 AutoReceive product to print the PDF flowsheet documents. Contact support if you need assistance with AutoReceive.
