Electronic Prescribing and Medication Management

This section describes the electronic prescribing and medication management functions of Care360 ePrescribing and EHR. Based upon your permissions and subscription level, you may have access to the following features and functionality:

Electronic prescribing.Care360 ePrescribing (which is also included with Care360 EHR) is an electronic prescription management solution that enables you to streamline your prescription writing and renewal process. When you write a prescription, Care360 ePrescribing or EHR retrieves patient benefit information from RxHub® and its participating PBMs. This enables you to write insurance‑compliant prescriptions by choosing on‑formulary medications and dosages, and notifies you when a selected medication and dose form requires prior approval by a patient’s PBM. In addition, when a medication may have an associated offer, appears on the Rx pad. Upon approval of the medication, the offer can be printed and given to the patient, as well as sent to the pharmacy when submitting a prescription electronically or by fax.

Notes:

Offers are available only for medications prescribed using Care360 ePrescribing or EHR; they are not available for administered, reported, or documented medications.

Electronic prior authorization notifications are available only for Care360 ePrescribing or EHR organizations that have Electronic Prior Authorization.

For more information, see Using Care360 ePrescribing.

Administered medications. Administered medications is a feature that enables you to keep an accurate history of a patient’s care and record medications (and vaccinations) that are administered during an office visit.

For more information, see Administering Medications or Vaccinations.

Reported medications.Reported medications is a feature that enables you to track medications that the patient tells you about (that were not prescribed through Care360 ePrescribing or EHR, or identified from the patient’s claims or retail history). In addition, you can use this feature to track vaccinations that have been administered for a patient at another organization.

For more information see Reporting Medications or Vaccinations.

Documented medications. Documented medications is a feature that lets you track medication orders or prescriptions that were written outside of Care360 ePrescribing or EHR. To do this, you will need to manually enter information about the medication or prescription order and track the status of the result.

For more information, see Documenting Medication or Prescription Orders Placed Outside of Care360 ePrescribing or EHR.

In addition, Care360 ePrescribing and EHR provide capabilities that enable you to further manage and reconcile medications. For more information, see Managing a Patient’s Medications and Reconciling a Patient’s Medications.
