This section provides instructions for accessing all new lab results that are received by Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR regardless of the patient for which the tests were ordered. The New Lab Results function alerts you to lab results that have recently been received into Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR for your particular organization or care site. This allows you to quickly view or print the latest lab test results, and when applicable, forward a lab test result on to a patient.
All lab results received by Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR (regardless of whether or not they are “new”) are saved to the associated patient’s summary. So, even though a result may no longer appear on the New Lab Results list, it is always available by accessing that patient’s summary. (For information on accessing a patient summary, see Accessing a Patient Summary.)
Results remain on the New Lab Results list until one of the following occurs:
• The lab result is manually removed in the list. You can remove one or more results in the New Lab Results list at any time by selecting the result(s) and then clicking Remove Selected.
Removing a result in the New Lab Results list does not delete the result from Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR; it only removes it in this list. All results (whether new or previously viewed) are always available from the associated patient’s summary.
• The lab result is viewed or printed. Depending on how Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR is configured for your organization, the act of viewing or printing a new result, by you or another member of your organization, may remove the result in the New Lab Results list. When you navigate to another area of Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR and then return to the New Lab Results list, all results that have since been viewed or printed are removed in the list.
For more information on how results are removed in the New Lab Results list for your organization, see Set Result Preferences for an Organization.
• The lab result is older than 14 days. If a new result has not been viewed, printed, or manually removed 14 days after receipt in Care360 Labs & Meds, ePrescribing, or EHR, it is automatically removed in the New Lab Results list.
The default expiration value is 14 days, but this value can be reduced (as needed) to best fit your organization’s needs. For more information about modifying the lab results expiration for your organization, see Set Result Preferences for an Organization.
Each time you access the new lab results page, it displays the latest results data available for your organization. If you leave the new lab results page displayed for an extended period of time without navigating elsewhere in the system, you can refresh the New Lab Results list with the latest available data by clicking the Refresh button. If any filtering settings are currently applied, clicking the Refresh button returns only new lab results that meet the current filter settings. For more information about modifying filter settings from the new lab results page, see View New Lab Results .
The New Lab Results list consists of a table of recently received lab results. By default, all new lab results are initially displayed in descending order by the lab result collection date. If you would like to define a different initial sort order, or view only a limited number of results, such as those for a specific provider, lab account, or result status (out of range, priority out of range, inconsistent, final, unreviewed), you can define default settings for the New Lab Results list from the General Preferences page. Additionally, you can specify whether the Interactive Insights® report or basic report displays by default by choosing a default lab view from the General Preferences page, or while viewing the report in the application. For more information about defining default lab results settings from the General Preferences page, see Set User Preferences.
Notes: • For more information on the Interactive Insights report view, click here to watch a short training video. • You can temporarily override the default filter options for new lab results by clearing or selecting new filters from the new lab results page. Any changes made to the filter setting(s) remain until you manually clear the setting(s) or reapply the default filter, or log out. For more information about selecting or removing a temporary filter, see View New Lab Results . |
While viewing the New Lab Results list, you can also re‑sort the data, as needed, by clicking any of the column headings. For example, if you are responsible for monitoring new lab results for a particular physician, you can sort the list of results alphabetically, by physician, by clicking the Ordered By column heading, and then page to the results associated with that physician (clicking a column heading a second time reverses the sort).
The following is a list of the data columns that appear in the New Lab Results list:
• Rvwd. Displays when a result has been marked as reviewed. For information about marking a result as reviewed, see Mark a Lab Result as Reviewed.
• Antd. Displays when a result contains annotations. For information about adding a note to a result, see Viewing or Adding Lab Result Annotations.
• Status. Displays the following information:
Item |
Description |
|
Indicates that one or more of the results for the corresponding requisition is outside of the normal range. |
|
Indicates that one or more of the results for the corresponding requisition is priority out of range. |
|
Indicates that medMATCH® reporting has identified that one or more of the results for the corresponding requisition is inconsistent. This symbol only appears for results where a physician submitted a test order for a patient and specified the medication(s) prescribed. |
See Report message |
Indicates that one or more of the results for the corresponding requisition has an unknown status (normal or out of range is not specified). The See Report message only appears if the corresponding requisition does not contain out of range or priority out of range results. |
|
Indicates that one or more of the results for the corresponding test is in question (TIQ) or has not been performed (TNP). The TNP advisory message occurs when a lab is not able to perform a particular test. The TIQ advisory message occurs when there is insufficient information available for the lab to complete the test. Also, the ability to receive advisory messages depends on the lab sending the result. Some labs have support for TIQ and TNP results, while others do not. The advisory message symbol will only appear on results from labs that support TIQ or TNP results. For more information on advisory messages and instructions on generating an advisory message report, see Viewing Advisory Messages. |
• Requisition Number. Displays the Requisition Number assigned to the test. Each requisition number can also include the following:
Item |
Description |
|
Provides a list of tests (or panels) associated with the requisition. Position the pointer over the symbol to view this information in a pop-up. |
|
Provides access to a PDF of the lab result data. |
|
Provides access to suggested lab recommendations, based on values contained in the lab results. Position the pointer over the symbol to view the lab recommendations and lab values in a pop-up. For more information on setting up lab recommendations, see Configuring Organization Alerts. |
|
Indicates that an enhanced report is available for a result. Enhanced reports are those that contain more than simple lists of data, such as an Anatomic Pathology (AP) report which contains photomicrographs of tissue or blood samples, and a pathologist's report of the diagnosis. Note: If the Interactive Insights report view is selected, you can click the enhanced icon in the NewLab Results list to access the enhanced report PDF. |
• Patient Name. Displays the name of the patient for whom the test was ordered.
• Patient ID. Displays your organization’s identification number for the patient.
• Lab ID. Displays the identification code of the laboratory that performed the test.
• Collected Date. Displays the date the test specimen was collected.
• Accession Number. Displays the accession number assigned to the test.
• Ordered By. Displays the name of the provider, or non-physician provider (such as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant), who ordered the test. For a historical lab result that has been imported in to the system, appears next to the ordering provider. For more information about importing a historical lab result, see Accessing a Patient’s Report History.
• Ordered Status. Displays the current status of the order; valid values include “Partial” and “Final.”
• Send to Patient. Displays a link (Send or Resend) that you can click to automatically send the lab result to the patient’s MyQuest account.
Note: This option is only available for organizations that are using Care360 EHR. Additionally, you can only send/resend lab results to patients who have a MyQuest account and an established Patient Portal link. For more information, see Patient Portal Accounts. |
